Luminescent Arch

Obtain at ranger station.

This was an HDR panoramic to capture the various color shades of the rock and the blue sky.

I hiked several days in Coyote Gulch. My main goal was to photograph the Jacob Hamblin Arch. I hiked all around it trying to find a good photographic angle. I was getting frustrated trying to find the perfect vantage point until I went to the very back of an adjacent alcove. Once I looked out at the arch, I knew I had my picture. The only thing missing was the reflected light. The next day I positioned myself in the back of the alcove and waited for the sun to strike the rock outcropping across the creek. The magic moment when the reflected light hit the alcove entrance, I knew I had my picture. It was such a wide angle that I had to shoot a panoramic consisting of 5 images stacked in 3 rows. Each individual picture was actually an HDR consisting of several exposures to capture the wide exposure range. It was definitely worth the hike in to obtain this image.
