Red Dress Among the Rocks

Leslie Gulch is located east of the Owyhee Reservoir in Malheur County, Oregon.

My wife has been my outdoor model over the last two decades. I have photographed her rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, canyoneering, etc. She comes across as a rugged outdoors-woman. I wanted to photograph her to highlight her grace and beauty as well as her dance and gymnastic background. I envision her in a colorful dance costume high on a steep rock face. Having been to the area several times, I knew that the colorful, pocketed rock walls of Leslie Gulch would meet this criteria. I was impressed that my wife was able to climb this steep wall in her dance shoes. Once in position, my wife started dancing on the rocks and flipping the skirt into the air. I knew I had captured the essence of my wife.
