The title pretty much sums it up. This is why photographers and outdoor enthusiasts seek out mountain environments for inspiration. Lighting and composition came together during this moment atop Moat Mountain in New Hampshire White Mountains. I thought including the hiker and tent spoke more to the peaceful experience we often seek out in the mountains. I first took 2 images with the hiker - exposing the first for the landforms and another for the sky due to the extremes in brightness. Using f16 ensured a nice sunstar, combined with the natural diffusion that the clouds created. I used a 10 sec. self timer so I could run into the image. A final exposure wa taken with my finger in front of the lens obscuring the sun, preserving detail and contrast that can be ruined by lens flare when shooting into the sun. The exposures were then manually blended.
