Take Hwy. 62 North from Fort Klamath, turn onto Munson Valley Road, and follow the scenic byway and Rim Drive around the lake
I only had one day to photograph at Crater Lake National Park, and decided to get up early enough to arrive before dawn. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for the thick fog, and had to wait nearly three hours after arriving for it to begin to clear off. Even though I ended up taking most of my photographs during the mid-day high sun, the lake was such an awesome blue color, it just didn't seem to matter. This photo is of Phantom Ship, one of two islands on the lake. The colors and terrain, incredible size of Crater Lake, and mountains in the distance all come together to make this photo one of my best in 2016.
