I went to photograph the sunset on a trip to San Diego and ended up at Torrey Pines (after a nice last minute recommendation from my brother in-law). When I got there, I was impressed with the overall scene. The formation of the rocks on the cliff overlooking the beautiful ocean with a setting sun. What more could a photographer ask for? Well the answer to that is, daredevils! So I set up my gear and I focused on my foreground. I really liked how interesting the rock formation on the cliff looked overlooking the ocean. With the light blending with the rocks creating a "Chiaroscuro" vibe while still leading my eyes into the horizon, I knew I potentially had something special. As the hang gliders flew over my head while ascending off the cliff, I made sure my settings were just right because I wasn't going to get a second chance to capture what I was hoping for. And then like serendipity, a single glider aligned perfectly with the sun, allowing me to create this image.
