Was out riding around as this storm began rolling in. It just so happened that the hay bales that I was sitting next to were only a couple of months old and were not stacked with any older ones because the bales from the previous year had caught fire. The cause of the hay bale fire was unknown but one couldn't help but wonder if lightning had anything to do with their demise. I was thinking it was lucky that these two twisted bolts didn't hit these bales and burn up this farmer's hard work. This shot was lucky in that it was so bright outside that, even with the polarizing filter, I was unable to stop down enough to keep the image from being overexposed (using slow shutter speed, no lightning trigger). Luckily enough, when I brought the image into Lightroom, I was able to bring the bolts back out into view.
