Branta canadensis (Canada Goose) goslings (age 3-6 weeks) picking for bugs in the park. • This is one of several goslings that was running around pecking in the grass, beginning to stretch their wings, or were tuckered out from playing and plopped themselves on the ground for a rest. • While the geese are mostly acclimated to people and cars milling about, I choose to lay on the ground at a nearby tree, so as to not disturb their normal routine. This also gave opportunity for the better-than-average tourist cellphone shot that most were talking while walking through the park. Zoomed out to 300mm on a cropped-sensor camera allowed a shallow depth-of-field and nicely blurred background to separate the gosling from.
