This was on private farm property owned by near Dayton Ohio. It is located off of Trebein Road in Greene County, very close to the intersection of Dayton Yellow Springs Road and I-675 east of Dayton.
My favorite method for black and white conversions of nature and landscape images is to first capture and process for HDR. With that method I have a greater degree of tonal range to work with during the conversion to black and white. I love working with dynamic skies particularly during spring and early summer in Ohio. I look for when the clouds will break at sunset thus providing optimal illumination in the clouds and on the foreground.
This image was the result of multiple exposures - three - combined for HDR with tonal adjustment and then converted to black and white using Nik Silver Efex Pro. This was at sunset following a thunderstorm that had just passed over my farm property here in Greene County, Ohio, near Dayton.
