This photo was taken on a backpacking trip across the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area in West Virginia. This was my first trip through the middle of the area, which follows the Red Creek drainage, making it quite waterlogged. So I was thoroughly soaked by the time I captured the shot. The weather affecting this area is quite volatile, and this makes for great opportunities to shoot clearing and approaching storms, so rain gear is always a must. The terrain through this area is particularly varied, but windswept trees such as the one in the photo abound.
