Snowy Great Grey Owl

A Great Grey Owl collects snow flakes on his face as the flakes on his head melt into beads of water. Photographer Mike Jackson and I were photographing this great grey owl hunting in this meadow. The owl harvested a vole, ate it then flew over and landed about 7 feet from Mike. Mike and I commenced to shooting. It wasn't snowing much when he first landed but the snow picked up as time went on, the snowier the better. This was as close as my lens would focus or I would have moved in closer. The owl must have been feeling photogenic as he sat there for at least a half hour and was still sitting there taking in the storm when Mike and I left. You better belive Mike and I were thankful for our good fortune by the end of this photo session.
