This image was taken of the three brothers in autumn of 2012. I had been photographing changing leaves on the black oaks just the day before and was surprised to see fresh snow when I came into the valley. In fact there was so much snow that morning that I had to stop and put chains on just to get into the park. As I was driving around I noticed some nice morning light on the Three Brothers. I pulled of at one of my favorite spots and hiked down to the river. When I got there I was surprised to see the fallen cottonwood leaves still sitting on the bottom of the river bed. I decided to make this my foreground to help balance the warm light on the cliffs above.
