Description

I made this image in July, 2012, 10 years after the Hayman Wildfire, which shows how nature recovers after tragedy. The contrast is evident in that the burned tree trunks are being replaced by grasses, aspen trees, bushes and flowers. Although it will be decades before the forest is once again populated by the pine trees that existed here before 2002, it will eventually happen. The same can be said of the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest Wildfires as well as other fires that have occurred throughout the west in recent years.
