An 846-foot monolith left along the Columbia River by the cataclysmic eruption of an ancient volcano. The "Rock" is popular with local and international rock climbers who dangle from ropes and natural handholds on the river (south) and east and north sides. A steep switchback trail with railings serves families and day treckers summiting the natural wonder.
