The Peak to Peak Highway goes south out of Estes Park passing multiple 13,000 and 14,000 foot mountains. It is truly one of the scenic routes in Colorado.
I spotted this female moose walking along the Peak to Peak Highway south of Estes Park, CO followed by her 2 calves on an autumn morning. She headed into a thicket of aspens just beside a pullout on the road where I had parked. The 2 calves went deeper into the woods but momma stayed at the edge to eat some of the foliage. Since these animals are large and potentially dangerous, I used a long lens and a powerful flash to photograph her in the shadows.
