The east entrance to RMNP is just west of the city of Estes Park. The recent floods of 2013 have limited the approaches to the City and the Park.

One of the best places to observe the annual rut of elk is Rocky Mountain National Park. From mid-September through part of October this drama unfolds and the bugling of the bulls can be heard from great distances. The evenings are the most active times and many photographers gather to capture these stately animals with their cameras. I made this image on September 23, 2009.
