Elk At The Beach

While I was out photographing fall scenic shots, a fellow photographer heard about my interest in photographing wildlife. He said I would have to make a visit to Point Reyes National Seashore where there were elk along the beach. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these beautiful bull elk in their finest fall antlers standing just feet away from cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. Many people know about our country's 59 national parks, but many don't realize that the park system actually includes hundreds more destinations where wildlife and landscapes are preserved for future generations. Point Reyes National Seashore is one of those unique locations where the city of San Francisco is just a short drive away yet the lands are protected for the benefit of these rare tule elk. Photographed in Point Reyes National Seashore, California.
