Description

TOOK A HIKE UP DEER MT FOR SUNRISE ON THE CONTINENTAL DEVIDE IN RKY MT NATIONAL PARK. I LEFT A LITTLE LATE ALTHOUGH I WAS AT THE PULLOFF AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. THAT COFFEE WAS JUST TO GOOD OUT OF THE THERMOS THIS MORNING. 3.3 MILES AHEAD. ON THE WAY UP EVERY TIME I LOOKED UP MY HEADLAMP CAUGHT EYES EVERYWHERE SOME RIGHT NEXT TO THE TRAIL. THE DEER AND ELK WERE EVERYWERE THIS MORNING. YOU CANT GO UP DEER MT AND NOT SEE MULE DEER. I HAD TO SCURY UP THE LAST HALF MILE TO GET SET UP ON A BOULDER OUTCROPPING ON THE WEST SIDE. THIS IMAGE IS 9 PANELS PANORAMA. IT INCUMPUSSES ALOT OF THE DEVIDE FROM LONGS PEAK (14259 FT) ON THE LEFT TO DARK MT (10859 FT) ON THE RIGHT. IT ALSO INCUMPASSES GLACIER GOERGE, MORAINE PARK, UPPER BEAVER MEADOWS AND HORSESHOE PARK. UNFORUNITY THEY RECOVERED A BODY ON LONGS PEAK JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER I TOOK THIS. HE HAD GONE UP TO CLIMB THE SUMMIT OF LONGS PEAK A FEW DAYS EARLIER BUT DID NOT ARIVE TO WORK ON MONDAY. THE RESCUE WAS HAMPERED BY HIGH WINDS. HE FELL APROX 2000 FT. LONGS PEAK HAS TAKEN 59 CLIMBERS AND HIKERS NOW. THIS WAS ABOUT FOUR DAYS AFTER THE FIRST SNOW IN THE PARK THIS YEAR.
