From Washington State Highway 20 at Winthrop, drive south and upward about 8 miles to Sun Mountain Lodge and this lone pine is on View Ridge as one walks south from the parking area.
There was a bit of wind on this morning so I set ISO 400 with 1/200 second exposure at f/22, in order to keep the tree branches sharp. The RAW file was imported to Lightroom and processed in NIK Silver Efex Pro2.
This weathered Douglas Fir lives on a sunbaked ridge in the eastern foothills of the North Cascades Mountain Range. At sunrise I took a series of silhouetted photographs of myself interacting with the tree. For me this image shows a connection between the two of us, like we are communicating.
