From Gardiner, Montana, travel through the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Once in the Park, drive less than a mile to Rescue Creek Trailhead on your left. Follow the trail across the Gardner River, up the hill to McMinn Bench. During fall and winter you're sure to find some really impressive looking rams up there.
In late October, bachelor herds of bighorn rams gather together on McMinn Bench in Yellowstone National Park. During this time, rams spar with each other in an attempt to establish dominance prior to the upcoming rut. My husband and I watched these rams nap and chew their cud for about four hours, until a coyote passed nearby, getting their attention. After the coyote moved on, they went back to sleep.
