I used a split neutral density filter to even out the light values and shot two images stitched together in Photoshop. It was really cold for the previous few days...you can actually see icecicles hanging from some of the trees hanging over the water.
It had been very cold and was hoping for some ice on the lake for texture, but instead had very calm waters for perfect reflections. The sky was not particularly interesting until it suddenly lit up in a strange way causing the symetry. I used two imaged stitched together to really get a lot of the shoreline and could not include the area where the sun had gone down because it was pure white to the eye and would have rendered that way in the image as well so HDR would not have worked either.
