Fly-in to Duba Plains in Botswana's Okavango Delta
This was a challenging scene to photograph. Crossing a flooded dirt road in an open safari vehicle means bouncing and rocking while holding tight so neither you or your gear flies out the vehicle. Forget careful composition or selection of your focus point... crank up the ISO, choose a not too shallow DOF since who knows what you'll focus on, wrap camera strap tight around your wrist, shoot away while holding your breath you and your camera stay upright, level and dry!
Experiencing Africa is like visiting another world. A world where rain that falls some 750 miles (1200 km) away floods a desert. Where skies are so blue, color washes over everything you see. And as you are transported through this wonderworld of water, your safari vehicle splashes and pushes flood waters around you creating waves more fantastic than any surfing safari you could imagine.
