Description

One of San Francisco's icon; this structure was a remnant of the 1915 Panama-Pacific Expo but was seismically retrofitted several years ago. I shot this at night but was trying to get that unusual shot apart from the typical long exposure shots that everyone takes (I also took some long exposures where the water looked smooth and reflected the icon). My backup battery was running low and I knew I had to find THAT shot quickly when I saw the golden reflection in the ripples of the water; during the first few shots my camera setting adjusted my shutter speed to a long exposure and I knew that I had to shoot this at a faster shutter speed to catch the golden ripples so I set my ISO to its highest setting to get this last shot. The golden ripples looks like the Palace is melting in gold.
