There are many sand dune fields in and around Seath Valley: Mesquite Flat, Panamint, Saline Valley, Dumont, Big Dune, and more. I cover many of them in my landscape photography guidebook, "Photographing California Vol. 2 - South".
I shot this single exposure at 1/250th second at f/16, ISO 200. It was adjusted in Adobe Lightroom and converted to black and white in On1 Silver Efex.
There was a lot of sand blowing on the sand dunes on this windy day, but using a 70-200 mm lens I was able to capture the motion without sandblasting my camera gear!
I'm looking forward to my multiple landscape and night photography trips to Death Valley this fall!
