I took the opportunity to photograph the Charlotte area while in town for a friends wedding. On the way into town I noticed the moon was rising close to sunset. This meant the moon would be setting around sunrise. Knowing this bit of information, I pulled up a software program called The Photographer's Ephemeris and used it to find the moons path. Knowing the path, I found a location that would allow the moon to be placed behind the skyline. Having the time to take this shot was easy, because the good thing about sunrise pictures is that nobody has plans at that time. An early alarm was set (~5:20ish), the address was plugged into the GPS, and thankfully this image is the result.
