I had had my Canon Rebel (my first DSLR) for a little over a month when I took this shot and I was (and still am) very inexperienced but this shot really captured the tranquility I was feeling on this day so I am really quite proud of it. My husband and I took a 7 week trip to NZ just as the country was coming into its spring season; which in many ways was great. However, it also meant a lot of cold, wet and sometimes uncommon weather along the way. We had just spent a couple of very rainy days in Napier (known for its sunshine and Art Deco) and were feeling a bit blue. As we made the drive from Napier into Taupo the clouds started to make way for the sun. Once we arrived at Lake Taupo for an afternoon boat tour of Maori rock carvings, the sun was shining and we had almost completely forgotten the past 3 days of nonstop rain.
