With the heavy amounts of dust and haze I experienced over my visite to Arches and Canyonlands national parks, I knew the colors at sunrise would not be ideal. Mix that with some overcast sky, and surely there would be no magical sunrise at this iconic location. After shooting Mesa Arch for a few minutes, I debated on leaving empty handed. Looking at the conditions, I soon realized that a black and white image would work quite well here. I shot 13 vertical frames and stitched them together to get a wide view of the entire arch and get as much detail as possible. After making a few adjustments in the RAW files I came home with this scene.
