End of the road to Wonder Lake.

Description

For anyone who has been to Denali they may know how difficult it is to see Mt. McKinley but to have this view and reflection is even more difficult due to the windiness of the park. Only 30% of all visitors see the mountain and this particular view is a 6 hour 85 mile bus ride into Wonder Lake on a bumpy gravel road. After 3 days and nights of rain I popped my head out of the tent at 6:00 a.m. to a partially obscured Alaska Range and scrambled up and grabbed my 50 lb gear bag. I woke my new found Swiss photography friend and after little debate we caught the bus for the uphill 2 mile ride to this famous Kettle Pond located above Wonder Lake. At around 8:30 we had just enough clearing to snap off a dozen clear shots. A 5 minute window allowed for the below panorama. After that either the pond had wind or the clouds were covering the peak. So was the 3 day wait in the rain worth it you ask? You bet it was...
