Right along US Hwy 212 at the confluence of Soda Butte Creek and the Lamar River
On the way into the park last September, the beauty and depth of this spot caught my eye as we drove by. I returned to the location the following morning in the predawn dark. I set up at a few slightly different spots until I felt all the elements I had hoped for were present. Then I silently witnessed the sunrise, shooting all the while, until the predawn turned to daylight. This 30 second shot is my favorite.
Just prior to sunrise in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park.
