A foggy late afternoon at Swami's Reef in Encinitas, California provided an opportunity to apply the color concepts Russ Burden described in his OP article. The idea was to use a colorful surfboard to provide warm, contrasting light on an otherwise dreary day.
This surfer, striding across the reef with his red and yellow tipped board, provided just the type of "pop" I was looking for.
