From Lee Vining (or from Tuolumne Meadows, take Hwy 120 to Saddlebag Lake. The turnout for Saddlebag Lake is about 2 miles east of Tioga Pass on Yosemite's eastern boundary. At Saddlebag lake park your car and hike north to Steelhead lake, about 4-5 miles away.
I shot this photo in 1991 on Velvia Film, and just recently had this scanned (by ScanCafe). This was shot during a 3 day backpacking trip.
East of Yosemite, and west of Mono Lake, is the 20 Lakes Region. The region is a mix of granite peaks and volcanic valleys, with many lakes in the area. One of them is Steelhead Lake, shown here. This was photographed in the morning nearby our camp.
