I was driving along Hwy. 93A in Alberta when I glanced to the right and saw this view of Leech Lake. I hit the brakes, backed up, and got out of the car to capture the moment. After composing and snapping a few shots, something struck me as odd until I realized that it was completely silent--not a bird--not a leaf rustle--no distant traffic or airplanes--just silence. It was overwhelming. The crunch of gravel when I moved my foot had a clarity that was simply eerie.
