Drive to Winnie, TX on Interstate-10. Turn South on TX-124 to Farm Road about 10 miles to Farm Road 1985. Turn West on Farm Road 1985 and drive west for about 9.5 miles to the entrance to Anahuac NWR. There is a large sign. Turn south at the Refuge sign and drive to the entrance where the Visitor Center is located.
At the Anahuac NWR Visitor Center there is a small lake where water birds gather. I arrived at the Refuge early in the morning when the lake was calm. The Sandpiper was standing sbout 200 feet from me in the water with a mirror reflection. I took several photos. THis one is a crop from one of the best originals.
