In October, 2015 I was in Garden of the Gods with the intent to photograph some evening/sunset views of the sandstone rocks in that park. However, as I searched the landscape I found that the particulates and the mist around the foothills to the west appeared more interesting. Sunbeams were streaming through the clouds and being deflected by the particulates. I have always been fascinated by the way that backlighting and mist creates a layering and geometrical effect on the mountains. I also noted a single bird, possibly a hawk, was flying around the area and I took several shots to try to include that bird in my composition as it was flying toward my tripod. Thus it seemed to be emerging from the mist.
