Notes

Shot just after sunrise, I wanter to render the beautiful light filtering through the forest canopy and contrast this against the the torrent of water. Three separate exposures were required to capture the dynamic range in this image, and in addition, to capture enough texture in the waterfall. The images was exposed using a 105mm Singh-Ray CPL to reduce specular highlights. Two exposures were made at an ISO of 71 and a third was made at an ISO of 200 to render the texture. The three fires were hand blended in PS for the final master.

Description

During times of high water flow, the lower falls along Muddy Creek, becomes a dynamic collision of water against stone. The falls are located in a steep gorge cut from the last glaciers to recede from Western Pennsylvania over 20,000 years ago.
