It was the final week before the park service would close Going to the Sun Road, in Glacier National Park, for winter. The weather was cold and unsettled with cloud masses swiftly moving across the mountains and dropping into the valley. Most of the time visibility was less than fifty yards. I waited for an opening in the cloud mass allowing sunlight to illuminate the meadows and Saint Mary Lake in the distance. I could see more, dense clouds rapidly approaching and took this shot before they engulfed the valley again. It felt as if I captured the last rays of sun before winter settled in.
