Assignment #25: Silhouettes
This week’s assignment was suggested by Ruben Hernandez. By making part of a photograph into a silhouette, you emphasize the shape and outline of the subject. This can make for a dramatic image. A person in a scene can be photographed this way as the late Galen Rowell did in several of his most famous images of climbers. A mountain range can be silhouetted to emphasize the craggy peaks. A tree can appear in silhouette to show off twiggy detail or broader shape. For this assignment, post your photographs with silhouettes. -Christopher Robinson, Editor
