Pyramid Island

For years one of my two bucket list locations was the Canadian Rockies. Upon retirement I decided to visit them in the winter so as to contrast with my Florida roots and shoot snow and ice which I had never done before. Armed with Darwin Wiggett's wonderful photographic guidebooks to the area, I commenced visiting some of the iconic and some of the less familiar beautiful places of the Canadian Rockies. I headed out of the town of Jasper to this nearby location early in the morning intending to shoot sunrise from Pyramid Island in all directions. When I arrived, this footbridge to the island captured my eye and while I did shoot from the small island and other spots around the lake for several hours, this first image of the area remains my favorite.
