Since OP issued a Starry Night assignment, I thought I would use it as an opportunity to practice star trails. I enjoy light painting so I painted some of the rocks and a small tree while the images were being recorded.
This is on Hampshire Rocks Road off Highway 80 in the sierras of California, near Cisco Grove. It was taken on 8/30/2014. This is a stacked image, comprised of 120, 30 second exposures, shot at F4, ISO 100. I set my camera on continuous shooting, manual, 30 second exposure then let it go for 1 hour. I used freeware StarStaX to build the trails during post processing.
