Since OP issued a Starry Night assignment, I thought I would use it as an opportunity to practice star trails. I enjoy light painting so I painted some of the rocks and trees while the images were being recorded.
This is at Wrights Lake off Highway 50 in the sierras of California, near Kyburz. It was taken on 8/31/2014. This is a stacked image, comprised of 60, 60 second exposures, shot at F4, ISO 100. I set my camera on continuous shooting, manual, 60 second exposure then let it go for 1 hour. I used freeware StarStaX to build the trails during post processing.
