I was so excited to take a week-long solo trip in my new truck camper, which continues to be the base for my travels. I'd meticulously planned shoots in Death Valley NP and in Valley of Fire (NV) State Park.On the morning of my first full day there the truck was dead from an electrical problem. There's a lot more detail to this story, but I was deeply disappointed, of course. While waiting for the tow truck, I had a chance to walk down the road make one morning image, a stitched panorama of first light on the Mesquite Dune Field. Then I left the truck in Las Vegas after a 160-mile tow and hitched a ride home to Phoenix, trying to be more philosophical than irritable.
