Please note that I wrote the story of our "grand-dog" and the picture was taken by my daughter, Theresa. You might say it was a joint venture to relate to all viewers of Outdoor Photographer of the love a family can have for a special pet.
This story began thirteen years ago when our daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Ron, invited a vivacious little puppy into their lives. Sierra, a golden retriever, very quickly became attached to everyone who met her. Her favorite vacations were always going to Pinecrest Lake in the Stanislaus National Forest and she loved romping on the beach and swimming and playing in the water. Because she was such a beautiful dog and so friendly, there were always children wanting to play with her on the beach. Her favorite game was searching for that special rock that had been thrown into the lake and she would search for it until she proudly walked back to her mommy and daddy with it in her mouth. Then the routine would start over again. Years pass so quickly which brings us to the present when Sierra had become a mature loving dog and a forever faithful companion… and it was time to get that last lap of water from her beloved lake and her last walk on the beach. She rests peacefully now in the beautiful Sierra mountains not far from ‘her lake’. This picture of Sierra was taken by my daughter shortly before we said farewell. What a love story between a dog and her parents and grandparents and all who knew her.
