I have learned that bringing my digital SLR, lenses, and tripod, on family vacations is an exercise in frustration. By the time I have my tripod set up and camera mounted, the patience of my family has already worn thin. On a previous trip to the Grand Canyon, I left most of my gear at home and brought only my Canon G12 and a few accessories. I noticed this scene while strolling along one of the trails. I managed to shoot only a few different compositions before I was getting grumbled at... something about us missing a bus. Thankfully, one of the (few) images came out. The image was processed in black and white using Adobe Lightroom.
