Description

Bamburgh Castle is located on the coast of Northumberland. Built on a dolerite (diabase) outcrop, the same material as the New Jersey Palisades. The first written reference to the castle was 547AD. The castle was re-built by the Normans in 1100AD. It has been used for a location for many films and TV; Macbeth and El Cid come to mind.
