In 2007, after 5 years in Florida, my husband and I planned a 100 mile, 12 day backpack on the Continental Divide trail in Colorado, where we had lived before. The hike would take us from Wolf Creek Pass to Needleton where we would board the Durango-Silverton train. Three days into the hike I started having severe problems with blisters and we had to hike out to Pagosa Springs and hitch a ride into town. Four years later we decided to make the trip again. In addition to 12 days of food, we also carried my Nikon D700, 14-24 and 70-200 lenses and tripod! We finally made the hike! The morning that I took this image, we sat outside our tent watching the sunrise and trying to figure out a way to move back to Colorado. Two weeks after we returned to Florida we both had job offers and were on our way to Durango! The name of the peak is "The Guardian" and it will always be a special image. It was towards the end of our 100 mile hake and a turning point in our life!
