The Palouse is one of my favorite places... it is just so unique. On this trip, I was treated to a light show as a storm rolls in. This lightning strike was so bright that it left me blinking for several minutes. Palouse from Steptoe Butte, Washington.
As the sun was setting on the top of Steptoe Butte in the Palouse, I was torn between the beautiful sunset on the West side of the mountain or the storm rolling in on the East side of the mountain. On a whim, I abandoned the sunset and opted for the storm. With rain drizzling down to the point that I was going to get rain on my lens and ruin any potential capture, I was just ready to pack up and the largest lightning strike that I've ever seen struck below me. I wouldn't have captured the strike, if I hadn't had my AEO Lightning Strike (lightning trigger) to automatically sense the strike and set off the camera. I was certain that the strike was so bright that the exposure would not be correct, but to my surprise it turned out great. Sometimes, it is all about following your gut, having the right equipment, and lots of luck! Palouse from Steptoe Butte, Washington.
