It is not uncommon for antlered buck deer to get tangled up in outdoor Christmas lights as this one did. Usually the problem is self limited when the antlers are shed in January. However, if the decorations get wrapped around the neck, the potential for strangulation exists and the Department of Wildlife can intervene. Untrained persons who might attempt to approach the deer to "help him get untangled" risk serious injury.
