The central United States and East Coast have been freezing this winter so my wife and I decided to head west. I have never been to Big Sur and we found a great spot to stay. I had to convince my wife to stay out for this shoot but she loved it. I scouted this beach about 45 minutes before sunset and followed the sun down and waited for the color in the dusk. Everything fell into place and purples just popped. I had my tripod ready and worked the exposure with an 8 second exposure for the surf to create a mist. With a split 3GS ND filter I was able to keep the arch from being too dark. A great location to watch the sunset my wife said. I agree!!
