I sat in a field of bluebonnets and looked for ways to get a different perspective on the photos I was taking. That was when I remembered an article I read about photographing flowers that talked about using all of the equipment in your bag. I had a 500mm lens in the car that I grabbed. I selected a single flower that was surrounded by other flowers of the same color yet was singled out from the field of flowers. The longer lens allows those backgrounds to really get a soft depth of focus.
