Kabetogama Lake is located located in the middle part of the park, near the Ash River Visitor Center. There are two entry points at the Ash River Center, one for motorize boats, the other for canoes and Kayaks.
While the busiest time for the park is in the summer, autumn is a another good time to photograph the park because there are less bugs. Summers are difficult because of the variety of insects that can be bothersome. Also, this park is known for its great fishing, especially Walleye, so motorize boats are very common the the four major lakes, making it difficult for crossing over to the Kabetogama Pennisula. Voyageurs also has more than 100 islands on the different lakes.
