Perilous Work

I named the photo Perilous Work for the people who are operating the heavy equipment machinery at the edge of the fire. They were making a fire break/a gap in the vegetation to stop the progress of the flames. Those machines are right on the edge of the fire. With no air conditioning, enduring the blazing heat from the flames, they did their job and stopped wildfire from spreading.

Documentation... that is what motivates me. Like this photo of the Airport fire from February of 2022. This was the first wildfire to threaten the small town of Big Pine, CA in about 10 years. There have been a few wildfires before but no fire has come this close and that is why I had to document everything I could. I took photos of the local volunteer firefighters, the Hot Shot Crews, the fire engines, the helicopters, and even my most favorite... the heros that were working the bulldozers.
